My name is Cate, a qualified and experienced Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and Counsellor based in Glasgow (G73 South Lanarkshire).

I am the founder of Cedar Room Counselling.

I am experienced in working with grief & loss; anxiety; depression; stress and trauma informed.

How I do it

I tailor my approach to fit the unique challenges you bring to your sessions.  I will create a safe space to explore where you are at, your symptoms and what might not be working for you anymore. I will bring in different kinds of therapy techniques and tools and offer an open integrative approach.

I have 15 years’ experience working across schools, colleges, university and charity sector, supporting students. Sometimes students got stuck, or in the way of themselves despite being on their chosen path of further or higher education they had worked SO hard to get into! I decided to learn more about how to work and support ourselves when our stuff got in the way, or more specifically when our thoughts and behaviours work against us.

5 years’ ago, I retrained and studied Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and since then offered counselling and CBT to many people that have been brave to reach out when life's inevitable challenges have come along.

I continue to work in education, supporting and training trainee counselling students, this keeps me fresh, up to date and always learning and growing!

I have vast experience in providing counselling support for students and staff working in education, and in the private and voluntary sector counselling people aged 13 to 78!

Text image with 'the cedar tree' with a line under it

Because of its characteristics (size, diameter, lifespan), the cedar has become a symbol of greatness, of nobility, of strength and of incorruptibility. For Celtic astrology, the cedar symbolises trust

“The heart's affections are divided like the branches of the cedar tree; if the tree loses one strong branch; it will suffer but it does not die; it will pour all its vitality into the next branch so that it will grow and fill the empty place”.
